I bought an Axim X50v some years ago, though after the first year I stopped using it so much. Just last week I found new use for it as a Japanese dictionary following the instructions on this Japanese Language Tools site.
The Axim has excellent Kanji handwriting recognition, much better than the Nintendo DS in my experience. So now that I’ve got Eijiro, EDICT, and a couple of others, my useless pocket PC (I have an iPhone now) has been given new life.
I already had a CD of Eijiro (2nd Ed.) on hand so I was able to follow the instructions given by Peter of Japanese Language Tools without buying anything, but he sells everything you need in a complete package as well. It’s a viable alternative to a Japanese electronic dictionary.
